With another year coming to an end and a new beginning only hours away, it is important to reflect on things that have brought us down in the previous year and ways we can better ourselves for the new year. It is important to trust in God and know that He will always lead us in the best direction.

Before starting a new year it’s good to look at the things in life that bring us down. It is important to try our best to get rid of those things. Start fresh and remember that following the word of God will fill our hearts with positivity and love. Being positive and letting go of worry is very important to being happy with the life God has given us. Picking up a Bible and reading into God’s word is a good start to a positive and encouraging new year.

Below are 10 encouraging scripture verses for the new year:

Matthew 5:16In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Hebrews 10:24-25And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

2 Corinthians 5:17Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

Isaiah 43:18-19“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

Romans 13:11-13Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy.

2 Peter 1:3-10His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.

Psalm 34:8Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!

Ecclesiastes 1:9-10What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun. Is there a thing of which it is said, “See, this is new”? It has been already in the ages

Romans 12:1I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

Romans 14:11For it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.”
