God: we, who abhor idolatry, are amongst the greatest idolators of all. Roman Church, Anglican Church, Nonconformist Church all manner of little patchy, discrediting, and unworthy adjectives have we attached to the great word Church. Yea, and there be those who would say, if you uttered that word simply, To what church do you refer? Why, there is only one Church. God makes no reference to any other church. It is the Church which Christ purchased with His own blood. That Church He declares to be His incarnation, His body, His visibleness; and we, having nothing to do - idle dogs!
