Teaching what Jesus commanded is something we have not always done well. In fact, I have asked many people in ministry what Jesus commanded, and few have ever answered beyond love of God and neighbor. However, Jesus commanded many things as recorded in the four gospels (i.e. “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.” – Matthew 10:8) Peter says that the Holy Spirit is given to those who obey. “And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.” (Acts 5:32) If we desire to operate in the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit, we must be obedient to the commands of the Lord. Virtually all of God’s promises are connected to obedience. John connects answered prayer to obedience and then makes it clear that we are not in Him, or He in us unless we obey His commands. “Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him. And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. Those who obey his commands live in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.” (1 John 3:21-24, NIV) We have taught freedom from “the Law” so zealously, that an entire generation has believed that obedience is somewhat optional, and God will love us and bless us whether we obey or not. This is not a Biblical concept. It is true that we do not win our salvation through obedience or good works. However, if we want to stay in the blessing flow – if we want the prayer of faith to be answered – if we want to move in the gifts of the Spirit – if we want the favor of God, we must live in obedience to the commands of Christ.

The enemy always uses one or both of his two primary tactics in dealing with the church. His first tactic is to send in counterfeit spirits.

Jesus said, “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.” (Matthew 10:16) To be fully prepared for spiritual warfare, we need to be trained on the weapons of our warfare. The primary purpose of this book is to provide this training for you and your church. The first step you must take is to educate yourselves, then to remain alert and aware.

And Elisha prayed, and said, ‘LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.’ Then the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” (2 Kings 6:17)

Father God, I submit to you in spirit, soul, and body; all that I am and all that I ever will be. All that I have and all that I ever will have I submit to you! I resist the devil, and in accordance with your word and in the mighty name of Jesus, he has no choice but to flee and take all his works with him, in Jesus’ mighty name! Amen and Amen!

If you want power, praise more! If you want power gifts, love more! Do not be like those Paul foresaw: “having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” (2 Timothy 3:5) You are not to be powerless. God did not give you a spirit of power to make you meek and weak. Look at 2 Timothy 1:7 (NIV), “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self–discipline.” Those who witness powerfully must witness in power.

May you know the intense pleasure of the presence of the Lord in your life today and always! May you have the peace that passes understanding as you live in unity with Him as obedient disciples! May you have all the confidence and assurance which comes to those who trust and obey! May you be prepared and ready for His return! Amen!!!

To move into this new season you must let go of everything from the past. You must be especially diligent to let go of un-forgiveness, bitterness, strife, offense, and jealousy. These things cannot move into the new dimension, and their presence in your spirit and soul will hold you back. If you want to move with the Lord let go of everything that hinders. Forget what is behind! Press into what is ahead! We are receiving that upward calling right now.

If a spirit is truly from the Lord — if it is the Spirit of God, it will bring positive change! It will bring renewal. It will bring refreshing. A Spirit from God will take you from glory to glory. It will bring the blessings and protection of the Lord into your life and your situation. But if it is one of those counterfeit spirits, it is going to attempt to block or hinder every work of God in your life and in your ministry. It will constantly be taking you on a downward spiral to ultimate failure. So, we must be alert and watchful. We need to seek most of all the spiritual gift of discernment to face the challenges of spiritual warfare in our world today.

The Second Tactic which the enemy likes to use is to launch a direct frontal assault on us designed to draw our attention away from God and away from God’s Spirits.

is crucially important to remember that the enemy is “anti” or against the work of Christ. Remember how John described his work in his first epistle. “…every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.” (1 John 4:3) Please note that this is the “spirit of the antichrist,” and not the Antichrist. The Antichrist has not yet been revealed, but the spirit of antichrist is already in the world doing his dirty work. Christ came to destroy the works of the devil.

Satan’s response to the work of God in our lives is to try to destroy the work of Jesus. What did Jesus say was the devil’s purpose? “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.” (John 10:10) Every time one of these seven Spirits of God begins to work in your life or in the church, the enemy will come, and he will try to stop it.

We must remain aware that every time one or more of these seven Spirits begins to work in the church, the enemy moves in to block it.

He wants to find someone who is vulnerable and will begin to whisper things about other people in the group. This quickly turns into gossip, and lives are damaged or destroyed in the process.

When we believe it can’t happen to us, we are at risk. The reality is that it happens over and over again in the church. Unless you prepare yourself, the enemy will be successful against you too. He gets away with doing it over and over, and each time we are surprised and shocked.

How can we be fooled over and over? I believe that it is because his greatest deception is to keep it all hidden from view. He has been successful at making people think that it’s just not real. It doesn’t really happen, and if it does, it couldn’t happen to us. In today’s world, if you go around talking about spirits and demons, what happens to you? Someone will say it’s time for some mental health treatment or hospitalization. The greatest deception in the world is Satan’s success in getting educated people in influential positions to believe that he doesn’t exist, and that demons are not real. When demon possessed or oppressed people believe this, the demons can operate freely. No one is watching them! No one is prepared to deal with them or to confront them.

The enemy always uses one or both of his two primary tactics in dealing with the church. His first tactic is to send in counterfeit spirits. At first, they look and feel like the real thing, but if you go along with these enemy spirits, things begin to go wrong; things just don’t work right. They have been sent to accomplish the enemy’s purpose which we have already seen is to steal your blessing and your anointing, to kill you hopes and your dreams (perhaps your body as well), and to destroy your work for the Lord and your influence in the world. If a spirit is truly from the Lord — if it is the Spirit of God, it will bring positive change! It will bring renewal. It will bring refreshing. A Spirit from God will take you from glory to glory.
