INTRODUCTIONSuperscription: “To the Chief Musician, Maschil, for the sons of Korah.” Maschil, an instruction, a didactic poem.“The sons of Korah,” descendants of Korah, were an important company of singers (1 Chronicles 6:33; 2 Chronicles 20:19). Opinions differ as to whether this and ten or eleven other psalms bearing the name of “the sons of Korah” were composed by them or for them.
