Introduction

A.M. 4064. A.D. 60.

In this chapter, the apostle,

(1,) Expresses his great concern for the error of the Jews in seeking righteousness and salvation by the Mosaic law, and rejecting the method appointed by God for attaining these blessings, Romans 10:1-4 .

(2,) He shows the difference between the righteousness of the law, by which they expected to be justified, and the righteousness of faith revealed in the gospel, Romans 10:5-10 .

(3,) He shows that, with respect to salvation, and the way of obtaining it, there is no difference between the Jews and the Gentiles, but that the blessing is as free for the latter as for the former, and on the very same terms as the Jewish prophets, Joel, Isaiah, and Moses had foretold, Romans 10:11-21 .
