Also known as the archeparchy of Diarbekir. Chaldean Rite. Founded as the eparchy of amida in 1553, which was restored in 1833. Elevated to an archeparchy on January 3, 1966. The archbishop is also archbishop of Mejafarkin. The Armenian Rite diocese of Amida was founded in 1650, but has since been suppressed.
