Curtis, Grandison a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church South, was born in Ohio, July 22, 1818. He joined the Baptists in early life; removed to the Pacific coast in 1850; in 1862 joined the Methodist Episcopal Church South; soon after was licensed to preach, and continued as a local preacher until 1871, when he entered the Columbia Conference, wherein he labored till his death, which occurred near La Grande, Union County, Oregon, January 21, 1873. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry.
