a Presbyterian minister, was born at Lancaster, Kentucky, September 14, 1804. He studied privately, was licensed to preach in 1829, became pastor at Stanford and Lancaster in 1830 removed to Saline County, Missouri, in 1833, and thereafter labored alternately as teacher and pastor in various places, especially Danville, Kentucky, where he died, May 28, 1882. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry.
