Zabarella, Jacob professor at Padua, A.D. 1564 et seq., and author of the book, De Inventione Eterni Motoris. Ideas presented in the book and otherwise, exposed him, before the inquisition, to the charge of doubting the immortality of the soul, from which, however, he was acquitted. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry.
