Today’s Verse: Nehemiah 4:17–18 (NKJV)
“Those who built on the wall, and those who carried burdens, loaded themselves so that with one hand they worked at construction, and with the other held a weapon. Every one of the builders had his sword girded at his side as he built, and the one who sounded the trumpet was beside me.”

Walking with Jesus in these days means we don’t get to choose between building or battling; we do both at the same time. Like the people in Nehemiah’s day, we’re called to pick up the tools God has given us (our spiritual gifts, our calling, our place in the Body of Christ) while never laying down the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. The Christian life is not passive; it’s an active, alert, and engaged partnership with God as He advances His work in our families, churches, and nation.

So today, ask the Lord where He wants you to build and where He wants you to stand guard. Stay in the Word, keep your spiritual sword close, and use the gifts He’s entrusted to you instead of drifting into laziness, distraction, or fear.
