In James 4:13-17, we study the danger of presumptuous planning. James addresses businessmen who boastfully plan without considering God. He reminds them of how quick life goes and how dependent they are upon God even for another day. James urges them to remember God’s sovereignty and make plans considering God’s desires. We need that reminder as well today. Rather than living and planning as if there is no God, we need to consider God’s desires for us and willingly submit to his will.
