If there is one thing that the Bible says about family and friends, it is love. Love should be the central thing in all of man’s relationships, and not some selfish purpose or reason. But how can love be shown in these kinds of relationships?

For a wife, love is shown through submission and reverence to her own husband. For a husband, love can be seen through his sacrifice to put his wife and family first above all else, even himself. For a child, love is proven by obeying and honoring parents. For a friend, love is exemplified by sticking through thick and thin, and giving away correction or rebuke whenever necessary.

And so the bottom line is this: love may be the primary thing in man’s relationships, but it is just an abstract idea. Love can only be seen and felt when people do things out of love.
