The Bible says a lot of things about itself, promoting itself as the ultimate source of faith and practice for any believer. In the New Testament, Paul tells Timothy that God’s word came directly from God, otherwise known as God-breathed. It never came to us because of the will of man, but the will of God.

Paul continues with his exhortation, describing what God’s word can do to anyone who will eagerly and wholeheartedly listen. The Bible is used for teaching doctrine, reproving mistakes, setting ways to correct errors, and instructing erring believers to continue in the faith.

Because of these benefits, the Bible talks about itself as a lamp that gives light to an otherwise dark path, food that should be taken daily, a priceless possession, a mirror that reveals impurities, and many more.

Here are other verses that talk about God’s word.
