Holding on to a promise is proportional to how you know the person who made the promise. The more you know about the person, the more you would believe he would fulfill his promises. However, it is slightly different with God. In the Scriptures, He often makes two kinds of promises – conditional and unconditional.

A conditional promise means what it sounds – there is a requirement from the recipient. For instance, when Jesus said He would give rest, the requirement is for weary people to draw to Him. If they don’t, then that promise would not apply to them.

On the other hand, there are also unconditional promises which do not need any qualification or action on our part. When God told Abraham He would bless him and make him a great nation, He did not ask Abraham of anything. And we can see that no matter how complicated Abraham’s family became, God fulfilled His promises to his and his descendants, until today.

Here are some promises of God that we can read from the Bible.
