When Jesus Christ came into the world, He did not only help the poor and needy. He served them by healing their sicknesses, feeding them, casting out evil spirits, and teaching them about the goodness of God and the hope of salvation.

As Christians in this present world, we should also follow Christ’s example in service. We should not select a few people whom we will serve due to their reputation, power, or the benefits we would get in return. Service should be done without expecting anything in return.

Helping the poor is a good first step, but serving them to satisfy their needs is one step higher. Remember that whoever it is that we serve, our service and efforts are ultimately appreciated and recognized by God.
