The Bible says children are treasures from God, which mean parents should take care and cherish them as good stewards. However, there seems confusion between merely hurting and disciplining a child.

The Scriptures teach us to train children while they are young so they won’t depart from God’s truths. Sometimes, the way to teach these truths is by using the rod of correction. It is completely biblical to discipline one’s child, not to show anger but to show love. There is a fine line between discipline and just hurting, which means parents should beware.

The Bible says God Himself disciplines His children, and so as parents, we ought to do the same to our kids to keep them from harm’s way. However, if the hurting actions and words are not geared towards discipline, then it would have a different effect.
