God goes to great pains to instruct His people regarding His promises and expectations. God doesn’t grade on a curve and disobedience is acoompanied by consequences. But through it all, He never stops teaching, He never abandons, He is their God.

Since we tend to trust what we know, and know what we have contact with; it is imperative that we spend time in contact with God’s word- learning to discern His will and obey it. We shouldn’t trust a created being more than the Creator.

God’s instruction, through Paul, concerning the law is nuanced and supremely balanced. He teaches us that the law is holy, righteous, and good (Rom 7:12), and that it is not abolished through faith (Rom 3:31), but also that we should not desire to be subject to it (Gal 4:21).

Scripture is abundantly clear that salvation belongs to our God. We need to stop trying to own our salvation, even in the smallest degree, and thank God that He called us to Himself.
