Unshakeable Peace Isaiah 26:1-6

Hebrews chapter 12 is our running coach. It shows us how well we are running and how to run with endurance. Or to mix in another metaphor, chapter 12 is our faith doctor who prescribes suffering as a cure for weak faith, but here the Great Physician redeems suffering in the life of the believer to make it serve us as discipline to make us stronger and holier. I Peter 3 strengthens us for the suffering we choose.

Understanding Suffering in the 21st century (Psalm 115:2-3)

After seeing Jesus' miracles and his teachings on discipleship in Matthew chapters 8-9, we conclude this study with a reflection on how we'll respond to Jesus. Will we be like the crowds who revered Him, the proud that rejected Him, or the believing who followed Him?

We've never been more connected than we are in this day and age, and yet many would argue we have also never been lonelier. We are starved for meaningful friendships. And God's design for the church is that it be more than just a crowd or even a community. We're family and friends who love each other.

The Joy of Friendship (Philippians 1:7-8)

The pathway from childhood to adulthood can be challenging for teens and parents. Along the way there are many dangers, toils and trials, and, also, many joys and glories. God has designed the struggles and joys of those years to teach us to love and obey him more. Thankfully, he has not left us to walk through them on our own. He has given us his inerrant, unchanging, powerful and sufficient word in Scripture to guide us.

Parenting Teens (Deuteronomy 6:4-9)

Why does Jesus care about sexual immorality? Because he cares about our joy. Jesus is not a prude. Sex doesn't scandalize Him. It is a God-given gift Jesus wants us to enjoy. But like everything good and valuable, sex must be safeguarded. It must be protected and preserved at all costs.

Anger is a fire that can smolder hidden in our hearts only to leap into flames suddenly. Sharp, hurtful words can race like wildfire through our relationships scorching our hearts and stinging eyes that once looked on with tenderness. Where once brothers and sisters enjoyed kindness and harmony, now adversaries lawyer up and go to court. Jesus comes out to meet us along the way with forgiveness and restoration.

In Scripture, your heart is the source of your desires, interests, and thoughts. It's the core of who you are. The wellspring of your life, for "everything you do flows from it" (Proverbs 4:23). And just as we prefer a pure spring over a polluted one, so God favors a pure heart over a polluted one. This week we'll study what a pure heart is and how we get one.

Blessed Are the Pure in Heart (Matthew 5:8)

Traditional leadership models are based on using power, position, and personality to get your way. Jesus taught us a different leadership model. Inverting the norm, Jesus insisted that the greatest leaders put the needs of others before their own and is most passionate about helping others grow and perform as highly as possible.
