Our Lord's Day service for November 14, 2021. As we close our journey through the third chapter of the Epistle to the Hebrews, we want to observe the seriousness of the warning being offered in the text. The generation that left Egypt fell in the wilderness, outside of the promise. Why? The answer is seen in the history of the Scriptures; at every turn, the children of Israel disobeyed God, rebelling against Him. Again, we ask why? The author of Hebrews gives us the answer simply and truthfully: they died in rebellion "because of unbelief."

November 14, 2021: "Because of Unbelief" (Hebrews 3:16-19)

Returning to Hebrews chapter 3, we find the author tackle the subject of faithfulness and the ministry of Christ. Christ was perfectly faithful to the mission on which His Father sent Him; He was, and is, perfectly faithful to the people of God. We certainly should not be surprised for Christ is perfectly faithful! Yet the call of the author of this letter is that his hearers would recognize their own call to faithfulness, lest they turn away from the living God and (as with the wilderness generation) die never having reached the land of promise.

October 10, 2021: "Jesus and Faithfulness" (Hebrews 3:5-6)

Our Lord's Day service for September 12, 2021. Returning to the 2nd Chapter of the Letter to the Hebrews, we see the author argue that there is a Biblical Theological foundation that establishes that Christ's redeeming mission required Him to become a man. What is more, the author states that Christ is not ashamed to call us His brethren. What does He base this on? Join us as we turn back to three Old Testament references to see how the author builds this argument.

September 12, 2021: "Not Ashamed to Call Them Brethren" (Hebrews 2:11-13)

Our Lord's Day Service for August 1, 2021. Returning to the great warning passage of Hebrews 2, we see the author offer an important reminder. They did not just hear the apostolic message of the Gospel, but they heard the confirming testimony of almighty God in signs, wonders, and acts of power. Again, with such definitive testimony, how will they escape if they neglect this clear and authoritative word?

August 1, 2021: "God Also Bearing Witness!" (Hebrews 2:3-4)

Our Lord's Day service for July 25, 2021. As we return to the second chapter of Hebrews, we find ourselves continuing to consider the warning given in the first four verses. Having seen the warning about drifting away from what we have been taught, we now have a warning not to neglect so great a salvation. This warning builds upon a contrast between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant; if the Old Covenant, mediated by servants, brought serious consequences to those who neglect it, how much more serious will the consequences be for those who neglect the covenant mediated by God's own Son.

July 25, 2021: "Do Not Neglect So Great a Salvation!" (Hebrews 2:2-3)

Our Lord's Day service for January 31, 2021. As we enter II Thessalonians, chapter 3, we come to Paul's request for prayer. Paul desires that the Gospel might move speedily and be received in honor. He also asks that they pray for the Apostolic team to be delivered from the enemies of the Gospel that the word would not be hindered. These are prayers that we should likewise be offering in our own day.

January 31, 2021: ""The Apostle Paul's Prayer Request" (II Thessalonians 3:1-2)

Our Lord's Day service for January 24, 2021. As we conclude II Thessalonians chapter 2, we arrive at a glorious benediction. Paul knows the needs of his Thessalonian brothers and sisters, thus he offers a benedictory prayer for them. He prays that the God who loves them, consoles them, and offers them hope would comfort their hearts. Further, it is Paul's prayer that God will establish them in every good word and deed. While this benediction was first offered for the Thessalonian believers, it is a good word for all God's people.

January 24, 2021: "A Glorious Benediction" (2 Thessalonians 2:16-17)

Our Lord's Day service for January 10, 2021. As we continue in this letter, Paul offers Thanksgiving to God for the Thessalonians. God, in His amazing love and grace, has chosen and called these believers. This truth offers Paul confidence that the Thessalonians can stand fast in the day of spiritual battle. Why? Because they belong to a God Who not only called them, but equips them. The people of God should hear this truth: those called are the beloved of God...in confidence, stand fast!
