We’ve all been startled before into a heightened level of consciousness about our performance – jolted awake into doing something better than we had been; shaken from our slumber that we’d better step-it-up a few notches! These awakenings happen in all areas of life.

Maybe it dawned on us the value of a human soul, or the nearness of eternity, or the death of a close friend awakened us, or a near accident, or a powerful Scripture, or even some culturally accepted sin that shocked us into holy action! This is important because no matter who you are, we have the tendency to slip back, get too comfortable, sluggishness sets in, our eyelids start to sag and . . . once again, we fall asleep.

The truth is, we often need a wake-up call – like Isaiah 60:1

Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.

I’ll bet there’s somebody listening today who desperately needs this call, somebody who’s got their feet up, somebody who’s closed their eyes “for just a minute” – but it’s been a very long minute and they’re no longer “fervent in spirit, serving the Lord”, even though they’re are the first one to admit that they’ve been loved by God from all eternity, predestined to everlasting life, ransomed by the precious blood of Jesus, indwelled by the Spirit of God – and yet somehow – their spiritual fervor is less than enthusiastic.

You know that it’s high time you did something worthy of our spiritual pedigree, worthy of the awful price that was paid for your salvation, worthy of the Divine love that set you apart from before the foundation of the world.

This is our motivation, our very best motivation. This is our Holy privilege. So listen, oh my soul: “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.”

Welcome, dear friends, to Home Church Langley!
