Some people think that Paul replaced Judas.

Two things about that:
1. There is no evidence in scripture that Matthias lost his place. He was chosen by God. And God did not chose another Judas. Matthias was there to be faithful to the end.
2. Paul was not qualified to replace Judas. The requirements was clear. You must have been in the "circle" ever since the days of John, the Baptist. Paul was not.
