(Psalm 17:8) Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of Thy wings
(Psalm 56:8) Thou tellest my wanderings: put Thou my tears into Thy bottle: are they not in Thy book?
——
All the blood-bought children of Christ are precious in God’s sight. The apple of the eye is the most sensitive and the verse is illustrating the fathomless depth of love and understanding that God has towards us. Whatever affects us affects the One who cares for us and who is deeply interested in our daily affairs and welfare.
“The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and He knoweth them that trust in Him.” (Nahum 1:7)
In the midst of trouble, God is the Only everlasting refuge that we can flee to and find safety. He covers us with the shadow of His wings and shields us in the storms of life as we put our trust in Him (Isa59:19). God will only permit us to undergo trials that we can bear and He will surely make a way of escape for us (1Cor10:13). He even gives us the strength and grace to endure and persevere in times of testing (2Cor12:9).
God is acquainted with all our ways; we cannot hide anything from our Heavenly Father (Ps139:8). God knows each of our thoughts, our emotions and He understands us more than we do ourselves. He sees each tear that falls when we cry to Him in prayer; even if words do not fall from our lips, He hears our inner anguish and silent pleas for Him to deliver us. Jesus, who is God the Son, and the Holy Spirit also intercede for us (Rom8:26,34).
God is gracious, full of compassion and mercy (Ps145:8). Nothing escapes His notice. He counts each hair on your head and He is your very present help in trouble, ever ready to work all things out for your good (Ps46, Rom8:28). Only lift up your eyes to God in prayer and cast your cares on Him who cares for you (1Pet5:7, Ps121). You are exceedingly precious in God’s sight.
“Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows”(Matthew 10:29-31)
