Genesis 4:6,7 - “Why are you so angry?” the LORD asked Cain. “Why do you look so dejected? You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master.”

What was true then for Cain specifically and mankind in general is still true today and will always be true.

God will accept you if you do what is right.

When you are still separated from God, lost, to do what is right is to accept conviction of the Holy Spirit that you are utter filth in sin, and beg for forgiveness in Christ. Apologize then and become his disciple.

Saved? You are still expected to do what is right.
You are expected to live a blameless life because of your family’s reputation. You are a child of God and all expect you to live a blameless life.

God expects you to do your best because the Holy Spirit enables you.

People expect you to do your best because
a. they too are Christians & know what you are capable of
b. they are lost and watching for you to fail so that they can laugh at both you and Jesus. Don’t let them win that point.
