The central doctrine of the book of Hebrews is the incomparable greatness of Jesus. Throughout this great book Christ is contrasted with prophets, angels, Moses, priests, and sacrifices. In each case, Christ’s preeminence is demonstrated.

The purpose of the argument is pastoral. Hebrews is full of warning passages. The purpose of the warnings passages is the perseverance of God’s people. It is an argument against apostasy. It is addressing the looming danger of defection.

In this sermon, Pastor Richard Caldwell will begin looking at a seven-fold description of the incomparable glory of the Son of God. Today he discusses Christ as “heir of all things”. And if you have Christ and continue to trust in Him, to look to Him, to prefer Him above everything, you will be an heir with Him. Christ is the greatest treasure in the whole universe, and the whole universe is His, and is possessed in Him.
