“For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.” — Romans 10:3–4 (NASB). Christians often re-punctuate this verse by saying, “Christ is the end of the law.” But God’s Word says, “Christ is the end of the law for righteousness”—we’re no longer made righteous before God by keeping rules, but by faith in Jesus' redemptive sacrifice. That’s the gift of righteousness. Now, our culture wants a voice in what makes you righteous and tries to make us afraid of saying what we believe is true, pushing us to establish a righteousness for a secular culture and roll in some religious inclinations. The real choice is to put away our self-righteousness and accept God’s grace and righteousness—the ability to stand in God’s presence without fear, guilt, or shame. And we do that through our faith in Jesus and His redemptive sacrifice for our reconciliation to God.
