Jesus after finishing His teaching His disciple how to pray, now places on rhetorical question on the floor to further stress His point.

He asks which of them that has a friend who stopped by at midnight on a journey, but you weren't able to feed him (which was a custom of the Jews to feed those passing by). Jesus says and you go to your friend house to borrow of him, three loaves. The fried does not get up and give you what you need because he is your friend, but because of the importunity of you.

Jesus then explains His meaning and purpose of this particular parable.
Jesus lets His followers know, that God is as much eager or willing to give unto His children the Holy Spirit to those who ask, then we are that are asking for Him.

His mentioning the willingness of the Father to give us His Holy Spirit, also lets us now, that God is willing to give us of Himself, the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God and the Spirit of Christ.
