THE SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD
Text: Ps 115:1-3

Introduction: To be sovereign is to possess supreme power and authority so that one is in complete control and can accomplish whatever he pleases among humans. Ps 115:1-3, Ps 2:1-4, Is 46:9-11, Rom 11:34-36
Points to consider:
A) Sovereignty of God brought salvation unto us by grace through faith 13" class="scriptRef">Is 46:10-13, Rom 9:15-16; :17 He raised Pharoah to show His power in salvation (great deliverance in Passover Ex 12:3-; :11-13 and passing through the red sea Ex 14:6-10; :13-; :19-25) of Israelites in the Land of Egypt. Rom 9:20-26, Eph 2:8-9, Rom 5:8-10, 3:22-26, Eph 1:11
He saved the worst of sinners, religious status, education and human dignity is no barrier, just as He is highly compassionate to the oppressed. Illustration of:
i) the criminals on cross Luke 23:39-43
ii) Nicodemus John 3:3-, :4 (human reasoning), 3:5-6; 3:14-15
iii) A man whose son was sick John 4:46-47; :49-50; :51-53
B) Benefits of trusting in His sovereignty
i) Downpouring of His righteousness on the unjust who believe Him Rom 4:5; :24-25 Rom 3:21-26 which led to pronouncement of sonship and heirs unto God Ps 2:7, Rom 8:14-17, Rom 1:3-6, Gal 4:4-7
ii) His glory is revealed in us and our inheritance is in Him Eph 1:12; Ps 2:8, Eph 1:13-14
iii) Authority is given over our enemies Ps 2:9, Luke 10:17-19
iv) Blessings to those who fears Him Ps 115:11-13, Ps 2:11-12, Ps 145:19, Ps 34:3-10
v) Refuge unto those that trust Him Ps 46:1, Ps 34:16-22
C) God’s supremacy over the work of His hands amidst our troubles Ps 46:8-10; :3-6, Ps 135:6; :7-9
i) In hopeless situation:
- Iron float on water 2King 6:4-7
ii) Provision in difficult situations:
-God made ravens carry food to Elijah 1King 17:1-7
