John 17 records the longest prayer of Jesus in the Bible, and it records the longest prayer of anyone in the New Testament. Our Lord spent much time giving praise to His heavenly Father in this offering, but He also spent much time making requests of the same. He asked for some things regarding Himself, however He asked for many things regarding His disciples. Their protection from temptation, faithfulness to the truth, and ultimate salvation from sin is intricately woven throughout the Lord's prayer demonstrating His overwhelming love for His followers, both then and now.
