The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good. — Proverbs 15:3

I love verses like this because they remind us of spiritual concepts of which we tend to lose sight.

The spiritual principle is relatively simple — God is watching. And for some reason, this slips our minds. It slips our minds when we think evil about someone that we shouldn't be thinking. It slips our minds when we look at something we shouldn't be looking. It slips our minds when doing something we know we shouldn't be doing. In that split second, just before we think, look, and act, we somehow forget that God is watching. But he is watching, all the time, because nothing slips past God — he sees all things, good and evil.

This simple spiritual concept is critical for us as men because we have wayward desires. Therefore we need a truthful, just, and righteous Lord to watch over us. Sometimes, the conscious awareness that God is always watching over us is enough to draw us back from evil and sway us to good. I know this has been true for me.

So today, as you go throughout your day, remember God is watching. He sees all evil and all good. And let this subtle thought persuade you to do what is right in his sight at all times, even when others are not watching.

ASK THIS: Are there moments you forget God is watching during your day?

DO THIS: Be a little more aware that God is watching today.

PRAY THIS: God, remind me of you and your presence that watches over me many times today.
