This is the second message from our series, "The Original Christmas Playlist," and it focuses on one of the very first Christmas songs - Zechariah's song, as found in Luke 1:68-79.

When we're first introduced to Zechariah in the Gospel of Luke, he is a broken, old man. He had waited and hoped and prayed for so long... but God had not answered.

It felt like God had forgotten about him.

Have you ever felt like that? Like God has forgotten about you? Like God has abandoned you?

Zechariah's song comes after a long, hard struggle... but Zechariah's waiting is rewarded, and God blesses him and his wife Elizabeth with a baby. And not just any baby - this baby is the forerunner for the Messiah, the promised one who will save all people.

Zechariah's song is about God remembering and offering us new hope, new life, and a new way.

God came to visit us personally - to intervene on our behalf and offer us a solution in the midst of our hurts and disappointments. God came down here with you in mind - God came down to show you how much he loves you.

Recorded at Beatrice Mennonite Church on December 10th, 2017.
