Revelation 21 | All Things New 
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. 4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” 
 
5 And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” 6 And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. 7 The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son. 8 But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” 
 
The New Jerusalem 
9 Then came one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues and spoke to me, saying, “Come, I will show you the Bride, the wife of the Lamb.” 10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great, high mountain, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God, 11 having the glory of God, its radiance like a most rare jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. 12 It had a great, high wall, with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and on the gates the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel were inscribed— 13 on the east three gates, on the north three gates, on the south three gates, and on the west three gates. 14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. 
 
15 And the one who spoke with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city and its gates and walls. 16 The city lies foursquare, its length the same as its width. And he measured the city with his rod, 12,000 stadia. Its length and width and height are equal. 17 He also measured its wall, 144 cubits by human measurement, which is also an angel's measurement. 18 The wall was built of jasper, while the city was pure gold, like clear glass. 19 The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with every kind of jewel. The first was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth onyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth amethyst. 21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls, each of the gates made of a single pearl, and the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass. 
 
22 And I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. 23 And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb. 24 By its light will the nations walk, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it, 25 and its gates will never be shut by day—and there will be no night there. 26 They will bring into it the glory and the honor of the nations. 27 But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those who are written in the Lamb's book of life.

Bible Prophecy Update | End of Times - The Best of Times | Revelation 21:1-5 - Re-Upload

Everything we do at Westside is centred on knowing Jesus and making Jesus known. Christ's great commission is for His disciples to go out and make disciples (Matthew 28:18-19). In Jesus' parable of the Great Banquet (Luke 14), He tells us to go out and compel as many people as possible to come to His Father's banqueting table so that His house may be full. There is no denying that our clear calling as the global church is to make Jesus known to those who don't know Him. But making Jesus known at Westside isn't simply tied into missions and evangelism, for knowing Jesus isn't a one-time act but an ongoing process -- what God begins, He completes (Romans 8:30 and Philippians 1:7). And the fact is, Jesus calls us to disciple-making, not convert--making; but that said, the role of any disciple is calling others to follow Jesus.

Sunday, August 7, 2022 Lesson Text: Revelation 21:1-9; International Standard Sunday School Lesson. A New Home No more sorrow, no more pain! We have the promise of God to be with him forever in the holy city, the new Jerusalem as his children. Oh, what a day that will be! Hallelujah 
 
Lesson Text: Revelation 21:1-9; Time of Action: 96 A.D.; Place of Action: From Patmos While exiled on the isle of Patmos for witnessing for Jesus Christ (see Revelation 1:1, 9), the Apostle John received a revelation from God by the Holy Spirit concerning future events (see Revelation 1: 2, 10) that will culminate with the end of all history. Patmos is an island off the southwest coast of Asia Minor, what is now modern Turkey. Because it was desolate and barren, the Romans used it as a place to banish criminals, who were forced to work at hard labor in the mines and quarries there. 
 
Golden Text: “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away” (Revelation 21:4). 
 
 
 
PRACTICAL POINTS FOR DISCUSSION: 
1. Don’t become too attached to this world, God will replace it with a completely new and different one (Revelation 21:1). 
2. God will give His children the best and perfect dwelling place in the new heaven and new earth (Revelation 21:2). 
3. If the Holy Spirit dwells within us now, just imagine how wonderful it will be to dwell personally with God one day in the new holy city (Revelation 21:3). 
4. Only in the eternal future with God will there be no more death, suffering and pain (Revelation 21:4). 
5. God has declared that He will make everything new and we can count on His Word, because He cannot lie (Revelation 21:5; Numbers 23:19; Hebrews 6:18). 
6. Jesus Christ began the history of the earth and He will finish it (Revelation 21:6; John 1:3). 
 
7. Believers are overcomers who will also inherit good things from God (Revelation 21:7). 
8. Those who have not placed their faith in Christ will not enter the new order, but will forever suffer punishment for their sin and will never see the bride, the Lamb’s wife (Revelation 21:8-9). 
 
There is nothing like a fresh new start! Most people have experienced the sadness that accompanies failure and the joy of a new beginning. The Christian life itself is a new beginning, a new birth. Old things are passed away. All things become new (see II Corinthians 5:17). This will be the case with the heaven and the earth. God’s purging of sin and death will one day be complete. In eternity we won’t have to live with a patched-up world—one still under the curse of sin. God’s new order will not be a remodeling job on the present universe. It will be totally new. Jesus, the Author of salvation and the Maker of our present heavens and earth will also make the new heaven and earth. For sure, God does not make an inferior product. Perfection is assured in God’s new creation. The final dwelling place of God’s redeemed will be the new heaven and new earth. Yes, all things will be new!

Lesson Text:  Revelation 21:1-9; Time of Action: 96 A.D.; Place of Action: From Patmos While exiled on the isle of Patmos for witnessing for Jesus Christ (see Revelation 1:1, 9), the Apostle John received a revelation from God by the Holy Spirit concerning future events (see Revelation 1: 2, 10) that will culminate with the end of all history. Patmos is an island off the southwest coast of Asia Minor, what is now modern Turkey.  Because it was desolate and barren, the Romans used it as a place to banish criminals, who were forced to work at hard labor in the mines and quarries there.

This message reassures children with the comforting hope of the resurrection. Though life on Earth is full of challenges, someday we will be with the Lord, and all things will be made new. Use simple items such as flashlights, tissues, band-aids, or water to explain how Heaven is wonderful enough to not require any “preparation supplies.” We won’t need tissues because God will dry our tears. There will be no pain, sickness, or sadness. We won’t even need light because the light of Christ will illuminate things! We can’t fully imagine how wonderful our future home will be.

There are a few reasons why kids need to learn about heaven in Sunday school. First, it helps them to understand that there is life after death. This is important because it provides hope and comfort during difficult times. Additionally, understanding what happens after we die can help motivate us to live lives that are pleasing to God. Finally, knowing about heaven can also give us a greater appreciation for the gift of salvation. 
 
In conclusion, learning about heaven in Sunday school can be incredibly beneficial for kids. It helps them to understand the Cycle of Life and Death and gives them hope for the future. Additionally, it can inspire them to live lives that please God and lead them into a personal relationship with Him. 
 
Revelation 21:1-7 Scriptures on the New Heaven and New Earth (Children’s Bible Translation) 
Revelation 21:1-8 NIrV I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The first heaven and the first earth were completely gone. There was no longer any sea. (2) I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem. It was coming down out of heaven from God. It was prepared like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. (3) I heard a loud voice from the throne. It said, “Now God makes his home with people. He will live with them. They will be his people. And God himself will be with them and be their God. (4) He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or sadness. There will be no more crying or pain. Things are no longer the way they used to be.” (5) He who was sitting on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down. We have now come to the place in Revelation where the seven-year Tribulation has ended, the Lord has returned to the earth to rule and reign for 1000 years, believers have been judged at the judgment seat of Christ, nonbelievers have been judged at the great white throne judgment at the end of the millennium, Satan was released from the abyss to lead one final rebellion, but then was cast into the lake of fire in eternal judgment. 
 
That brings us to the point where we now look to eternity and beyond. The reason God shows us these things in advance is that we might prepare our lives for eternity. “Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and heeds the things written in it; for the time is near.” 
 
 Many people have assumptions about eternity, but many of these come from movies or pithy sayings, or stories and even humor. And for some reason, Peter is always the one standing at the gate welcoming people to heaven. 
 
 Like, for example, the story about when a pope and a politician both die on the same day and arrive at the gates of heaven where Peter greets them. The pope was rather surprised to see a band of angels coming out to welcome the politician, music sounding and cheers of celebration as they carry him into heaven on their shoulders. Peter could see the concerned look on the face of the pope, so he said, “Something wrong?” “Well,” said the pope, “this isn’t exactly how I envisioned it…” 
 
No doubt you have heard the phrase, ‘pearly gates,’ that saying does has a biblical reference, but it’s not about heaven, up there, it’s about heaven when it comes to the earth. 
 
When most people think of eternity, they immediately imagine heaven, up there, with the Lord. These verses shed light on eternity and it’s not what many people think. Heaven, you might say, will be on the earth, but not earth as we know it, even the earth itself will be made new.
