Chapter 12Now in the seventh year in which Jehu was the king in Israel is when this king began to reign ( 2 Kings 12:1 );Because you remember, he was just one year old when his dad was killed by Jehu. Hazael, king of Syria, fought against Gath—Gath, formerly a town of the Philistines According to Chronicles, the expedition against Jerusalem occurred in the last year of Jehoash’s reign, and it is there marked that this was a punishment from the Lord for the king’s unfaithfulness to Him, and his cruelty to the prophet Zechariah.
