This is our Lord’s first argument. Mark relates it, Mark 3:23-26, with little alteration in the phrase; so doth Luke, Luke 11:17,Luke 11:18. The sum of the argument is, The devil is so wise, that he will look to the upholding of his own kingdom in the world.
