John 1:36

36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!

Ver. 36. Behold the Lamb of God ] Eximius ille agnus et singularis, that notable Lamb, typed out by the paschal lamb, and by that lamb that was the daily morning and evening sacrifice in the temple; that Lamb without blemish of original corruption, and without spot of actual transgression,1 Peter 1:19; 1 Peter 1:19 . A lamb in his passion, but a lion in his resurrection, Revelation 5:5 , to whom every man is bound to send a lamb (in token of homage) as unto "the Ruler of the whole earth," Isaiah 16:1 .
