John 16:26

26 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:

Ver. 26. At that day ye shall ask, &c. ] Christ had promised them further light, but yet expects they should pray for it. Prayer is a putting the promises in suit; we must pray them over ere we get the performance, Ezekiel 36:37 . Christ himself was to ask of his Father the world for his inheritance, &c.,Psalms 2:8; Psalms 2:8 ;
