Verse 34

Acts 5:34. A Pharisee, named Gamaliel, He is said to have been the son of good old Simeon, mentioned Luk 2:25 and was the person at whose feet St. Paul was brought up. He was a man in so great esteem among the Jews, that Onkelos, the author of the Targum, is said to have burned seventy pounds weight of perfumes at his funeral; and the Jews have this saying concerning him, "From the time that Rabbin Gamaliel the Old died, the honour of the law failed, and purity and Pharisaism died."
