18. Dig about thee חפר , “search about,” (Ewald, Dillmann, etc.,) to see that all is right an uncalled-for weakening of the sense. Rosenmuller, etc., give it the sense of “being ashamed;” many others retain its ordinary meaning of dig, (Job 3:21;) for instance, “the fields,” (Furst,) or, “a well,” (Dr. A. Clarke.)
