Introduction

The Hebrew text of this chapter is so damaged that both Professor Kautzsch and the Polychrome Bible leave a number of verses untranslated. It contains the lament of Jehovah over his land and people destroyed by sin. It is in metrical form, which accounts, perhaps, for the many repetitions of the same sentiment. The refrain, “The end is come,” reminds one of Amos 8:2, etc.
