Country of central Asia; population almost entirely Muslim. In 1879 a vicariate Apostolic was founded for Afghanistan and Baluchistan and entrusted to the Missionaries of Mill Hili, London. They served as chaplains in the wars, but no Christian Church or organized Christian community was able to establish itself. The current "sui juris" mission of Afghanistan was founded on May 16, 2002. See also
