(Ibn Roshd; 1126-1198) Arabian philosopher, born Cordova, Spain; died Morocco. He is the author of an important medical work, and is also known for his "Commentaries" on Aristotle and original philosophic treatises. Thomas Aquinas, although refuting him, spoke of his views with respect.
