(1645-1732) Fifth Superior of the Sulpicians at Montreal, born Grenoble, France. He went to Canada in 1680, and labored among the Indians at La Montagne until 1700 when he became superior. He erected Fort de La Montagne and the old seminary and began the construction of the Lachine Canal. Among his works are a history of Canada, and funeral orations of Venerable Marguerite Bourgeoys and others prominent in the religious life of that country.
