Martyred on August 9, 1537 at Newgate, England. He was the nephew of Richard Bere, abbot of Glastonbury, and was a monk in the London Charterhouse. With the other Charterhouse monks he was arrested, imprisoned at Newgate, and starved to death. Beatified in 1888.
