The Mass which is said publicly every day in churches in which the Divine Office is said daily, i.e.,in all cathedrals, in churches which have chapters, for which reason it is often called chapter Mass, and in churches of religious who are obliged to recite the office publicly, e.g., Canons regular. With the Office the Mass completes the official or liturgical service of God in such churches.
