Jesuit missionary, born Dieppe, France, 1618; died Quebec, Canada, 1697. He went to Canada, and accompanied Chaumonot to the Onondaga Iroquois, and Druillettes to Hudson Bay. Later he labored with Marquette at Lake Superior. Dablon was the first to announce the existence of Lake Superior copper deposits, and to suggest the feasibility of uniting Lake Michigan to the Mississippi by canal.
