Martyr. Born in 1550 at Rodsley, England; died in 1881 at Tyburn, England. He was admitted Fellow of Exeter College, Oxford in 1568. In 1575 he fled abroad, and was ordained at Douai in 1577. Arrested in London in 1580, he was imprisoned in the Marshalsea, and after numerous examinations under torture, was hanged and quartered. Beatified in 1886; canonized in 1970.
