"a pricking" (akin to katanusso, "to strike" or "prick violently," Acts 2:37 ), is used in Romans 11:8 , RV, "stupor" (AV, "slumber"). It is suggested that this meaning arose from the influence of the verb katanustazo, "to nod" or "fall asleep" (Field, Notes on the Translation of the NT).
