“...John, who testifies to everything he saw” (Revelation 1:1-2, NIV)
Jesus chose John the beloved, to write the glorious climax of the Holy Scripture. John had his own special place among the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ. He loved Jesus immensely and was loved by the Lord as well. Though he is said to be an “unschooled, ordinary man” (Acts 4:13, NIV) his Gospel, Epistles and Apocalypse carry the profoundest treasure of Divine message, wisdom and revelation.
What made him so dear to God? Many are the reasons but our present text gives us one important reason. John has the blessed habit of, “testifying to everything he saw”! That needs lot of courage and commitment towards God. We see many things when we read God’s Word. We see many wonderful truths with our spiritual eyes as we meditate upon God’s Word and when we listen to the anointed preachers.
We are happy to discover those wonderful truths and we praise God for them but when we have an opportunity and necessity we step back and remain silent because of the fear of rejection and mockery. This is the world ruled by the father of lies. Whenever we proclaim God’s truth we will have to face insult and persecution. The people of this world will not appreciate you when you speak God’s truth uncompromisingly. Many Christians, even Christian leaders of great reputation have the record they know just because they wanted to earn public acceptance.
John the beloved disciple was of a different breed! He never cared what the people thought about his preaching. He never bothered whether the people believed him or not. He was not worried whether they admired or mocked at him. He simply kept on declaring whatever the Lord showed him. Because of such fearless commitment to declare the Truth, he was found worthy of receiving the richest and most glorious revelation of God.
Can you tell your friends in their face that Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation? Or, are you afraid that you will lose those friends? Your answer exposes your level of commitment to the Lord and the same will decide the distance between you and your Lord.
Be the first to react on this!
Bakht Singh (1903 - 2000)
He is often regarded as one of the most well-known bible teachers and preachers and pioneers of the Indian Church movements. He was India's foremost evangelist, preacher and indigenous church planter who founded churches based on New Testament principles. He began a worldwide indigenous church-planting movement in India that eventually saw more than 10,000 local churches. Norman Grubb missionary statesman, author and teacher: "In all my missionary experience I think these churches on their New Testament foundations are the nearest I have seen to a replica of the early church and a pattern for the birth and growth of the young churches in all the countries which we used to talk about as mission fields."Life of prayer. Brother Bakht Singh was a man of prayer. He spent hours upon his knees in communion with the Lord seeking the Lord's mind regarding His will concerning the work and ministry. Therefore, the Lord also honored him and blessed him beyond any human understanding. This is one of the reasons why the Lord has used him so mightily for the edification of His Body and for the extension of His glorious kingdom both in India and abroad.
