<h3>Deliverance of Israel</h3>27 In that day, <poetry>the <smallCap>Lord</smallCap> will punish with his sword — <indent>his fierce, great and powerful sword—</indent> Leviathan the gliding serpent, <indent>Leviathan the coiling serpent;</indent> he will slay the monster of the sea.</poetry> 2 In that day —<poetry>“Sing about a fruitful vineyard: 3 <poetry>    I, the <smallCap>Lord</smallCap>, watch over it;</indent> <indent>I water it continually.</indent> I guard it day and night <indent>so that no one may harm it.</indent> </poetry> 4 <poetry>    I am not angry.</indent> If only there were briers and thorns confronting me! <indent>I would march against them in battle;</indent> <indent>I would set them all on fire. </indent> </poetry> 5 <poetry>Or else let them come to me for refuge; <indent>let them make peace with me,</indent> <indent>yes, let them make peace with me.”</indent><poetry></poetry> 6 <poetry>In days to come Jacob will take root, <indent>Israel will bud and blossom </indent> <indent>and fill all the world with fruit. </indent><poetry></poetry> 7 <poetry>Has the <smallCap>Lord</smallCap> struck her <indent>as he struck down those who struck her?</indent> Has she been killed <indent>as those were killed who killed her?</indent> </poetry> 8 <poetry>By warfare and exile you contend with her— <indent>with his fierce blast he drives her out,</indent> <indent>as on a day the east wind blows.</indent> </poetry> 9 <poetry>By this, then, will Jacob’s guilt be atoned for, <indent>and this will be the full fruit of the removal of his sin: </indent> When he makes all the altar stones <indent>to be like limestone crushed to pieces,</indent> no Asherah poles or incense altars <indent>will be left standing.</indent> </poetry> 10 <poetry>The fortified city stands desolate, <indent>an abandoned settlement, forsaken like the wilderness;</indent> there the calves graze, <indent>there they lie down; </indent> <indent>they strip its branches bare.</indent> </poetry> 11 <poetry>When its twigs are dry, they are broken off <indent>and women come and make fires with them.</indent> For this is a people without understanding; <indent>so their Maker has no compassion on them,</indent> <indent>and their Creator shows them no favor. </indent></poetry> 12 In that day the Lord will thresh from the flowing Euphrates to the Wadi of Egypt, and you, Israel, will be gathered up one by one. 13 And in that day a great trumpet will sound. Those who were perishing in Assyria and those who were exiled in Egypt will come and worship the Lord on the holy mountain in Jerusalem.
