THE SALUTATION (vs.1-2) Paul writes with apostolic authority and by the will of God, so that total subjection to what he writes is rightly called for on the part of believers. Yet he adds, "and Timothy our brother," for it is not only objective truth he is presenting, but much that is subjective, awakening exercise in us of "honoring God," the meaning of Timothy's name.
