"Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity."
The words of Solomon throughout this book reveal that there is much vanity. Vanity is defined as something that is vain, empty or valueless. Literally we are left with nothing. Everything of this world is vanity, it holds not value, keeps no worth and fades away or perishes from the earth. Yet, everything that most men are living for is this vanity. We know of 3 things that are eternal, permanent and everlasting: God, all Three of the Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Ghost; the Word of God is eternal for it proceeds from Him and is Him; and the soul of all living mankind (that is men, not animals). WE are in a devilish generation that seeks to continue to humanize animals. They give animals names, then personalities, emotions and other things that make them more like men.
This is vanity, where men make their own self deceptions that remove us from what God has said and done. It is all worthless to live a life without God. To be void of understanding about the things of God and His eternal purpose. And then when all this life of vanity is over, the eternal life begins. All that is in eternity is found to be with purpose toward God and in God for the saved soul. All that is in hell will be forever in the place of no escape from regret, remorse and anguish over a life of vanity. How needful it is for men to know today of the absolute truth of that which is to come for all eternity for every living soul. A life of vanity loses the rewards of heaven, loses the place of glory unto God and seals many a souls fate in hell. What life are you living? What labors are you doing? What priority holds you for your every day living? What's at the heart of your life of importance?
